NJSAR K9 Team - At this time NJSAR K9 is not accepting applications for Dog Handler due to a full training roster. We are accepting applications for K9 Support. K9 Field Support duty entails working very closely with the dog handlers in training and on searches. If you have interest in working with the K9 Team but owning a dog does not currently fit into your lifestyle, this may be of interest to you. Please contact Lt. Robert Langendoen (k9@njsar.com) or Sue Lavoie (k9@njsar.com) for further information.

Membership is open to anyone over the age of 16 who would like to help search for lost persons. No experience is necessary but your should normally have some outdoor experience, especially hiking. Should be able to go out and walk for several hours in various terrain without problems.

Dues are $12 per year. As of January 1, 2008, dues will be $25 per year. We expect members to supply their own telephone pagers (or cell phone that receives text messages)to receive alerts or to use one provided by NJSAR at a cost of about $23 per quarter. During the first year probationary period, members should attend all meetings and drills unless work prevents. There is a $25 application fee which will increase to $50 in January 2008.
